This 150W/M² underfloor heating cable is designed to provide efficient secondary heating for most living areas, ideally when covering at least 80% of the usable floor space.

For optimal performance, an insulation layer beneath the system is strongly recommended—especially on concrete subfloors—to reduce heat loss and improve warm-up times.

When used as a primary heat source, we advise heating 70–90% of the total floor area to maintain comfortable and consistent room temperatures.

Underfloor Heating Cable Floor Build-up

Start by preparing the subfloor (timber or concrete) and apply a 4mm bed of flexible adhesive to bond the insulation boards securely.

Once the insulation is fitted, position and fix the heating cable according to your planned layout.

You may tile directly over the cable or apply a layer of self-levelling compound first to create a smooth surface and improve heat distribution.

Finish with a standard 6mm layer of flexible tile adhesive, ensuring an even bed for consistent heat transfer and full cable coverage.

Total floor build-up will vary depending on materials used:

• 2–4mm flexible adhesive (for insulation boards)
• 6mm insulation board (10mm & 20mm options available)
• 2.5mm 150W/m² underfloor heating cable, embedded in adhesive or levelling compound
• 4–7mm tile adhesive
• Tiles (10mm in this example)
