Electric Underfloor Heating FAQ's
Q. Can I fit laminate floor on top of the underfloor heating?
Yes, you can have laminate flooring as long as you don’t sit this on a thick underlay. This will act as insulation and will hold the heat back.
Q. Can we use your mats as a primary heat source?
All our underfloor heating systems are suitable for use as the primary heat source. Please note however,
1: You need to heat 70+% of your floor area with our underfloor heating mats.
2: You install sufficient / suitable insulation, (this is especially important when installing under floor heating over a concrete sub floor).

Q. Will the thermostat, work with the existing underfloor heating?
Underfloor heating world thermostats should work with all standard electrical underfloor heating systems. One problem you may incur however is if you are not able to install the floor probe included with the underfloor heating world thermostat the old floor probe may not be compatible. This will mean you only have the use of the built in air sensor to regulate the heating rather than both floor and air control. If you are at all unsure please do not hesitate to give us a call. Q. Do I really need insulation?
All under floor heating world insulations, both hard and soft are optional. However, when installing underfloor heating over a concrete sub floor we do STRONGLY recommend the use of a suitable insulation as this will greatly increase the response rate and overall efficiently of all underfloor heating systems. Over wooden sub floors the insulation is not such a necessity but again will still increase the response rate and efficiency of all underfloor heating systems. We understand some customers have height or floor level restrictions so we do offer a heat reflecting primer which will provide some insulation. If possible though, good practice is to always install at least 6mm of either hard or soft insulation before the underfloor heating is fitted.
