Non cement coated insulation boards

non cement coated insulation

Non cement coated insulation design as a more cost effective alternative to the tile backer boards. They have exactly the same material and compression strength. Simply without the cement coating, However once stuck down both sides of the board will be cover in tile adhesive effectively creating the tile backer board for half the cost. Can be used on wood or concrete.

Tile backer insulation boards

Tile backer Board Insulation

Now you may say well why go for the tile backer board if the non cement coated board is cheaper. Well because the boards have a cement coating on them they can be screwed down to a wooden sub-floor. So our main advice would be … If you have screeded floor use the non cement coated board but with wooden floors the tile backer board can be laid easier.

Flexible tile & Stone adhesive

flexible tile adhesive

The key term here is flexible. The tile adhesive must be flexible as it will need to expand and contract with the heat from the underfloor heating system. The 20kg bag will cover about 6sqm’s for tiles and about 4sqm’s of insulation boards. Dependent on both the depth of adhesive and the conditions of the sub-floor.

Flexible self leveling compound

flexible levelling compound

The self leveling compound is simple and easy to use add the bag and bottle together and it will create the perfect liquid, which you pour onto the heating cables. And the compound sets as a smooth concrete. This has two benefits it creates and even conduction of heat and also protects the heating cable during the tilling process.
